DLL files are one of the most crucial parts of Windows. They are hardly noticed at all when your system is running properly but when a DLL error strikes, it can potentially affect every application on your system and Windows itself. There is no specific rule as to where a DLL file needs to be stored and they can be added, or removed, from your system at the will of a software developer. Unfortunately, this means that DLL files with the same name end up in different places on your Windows system.
