Macros allow you to add extra functionality to Office programs such as Word and Excel. However, they have for a long time been one of the hackers’ favourite ways to spread malware, since it allows them to create infected documents which can be sent as email attachments. Luckily, with the right security settings, you can protect Office and your PC against these threats, meaning that if you do open an infected file, it won’t be able to take over your PC.
