Error Troubleshooting with the Event Viewer

The Windows event logs in Windows XP and 2000 are the central location for storing information about the events that have occurred while you have been using your PC. As well as lots of information about programs starting up, the event logs also record information about errors and problems that have occurred with Windows, and with the applications installed on your PC. If you are experiencing problems with your PC then the first place to look for troubleshooting clues is the event logs, as they are likely to contain information about the problem that has occurred. The event logs are accessed via the Windows Event Viewer, which allows you to search for and filter out important events, and can very often point you towards a solution to fix the problem.
