Block Internet Explorer Website Suggestions

When you type a website address into the address line of Internet Explorer 10 or 11, the browser will give you some suggested websites after you have typed just a few letters. Usually these are suggestions for website that you have no interest in. You might think you can solve this by deleting your browsing history in Internet Explorer but, unfortunately, this won’t help since Internet Explorer is linked to the Windows Search function.

In order to stop the unwanted website suggestions from appearing, proceed as follows:

  1. Click on Tools and then Internet Options. If the Tools menu isn’t shown, press the [Alt] key.
  2. Click on the Content tab, then click the Settings button next to AutoComplete.
  3. Deactivate the option Use Windows Search for better results and remove the tick in front of the option Suggesting URLs.
  4. Click OK > OK.
