WLANs: Stay Safe on Public Wi-Fi

These days, travelling with a notebook PC or tablet doesn’t mean surviving without Internet access. Everywhere you go, you’ll find public WLANs (aka wireless networks) and Wi-Fi hotspots in cafes and restaurants, hotels, libraries, airports and railway stations, and even on trains and aeroplanes. Just connect your portable PC to the network and you’re ready to use the Internet.
But be careful about it! They may be convenient, but public Wi-Fi networks can also be dangerous. In this article, I’ll explain how to connect to a public wireless network and use it safely.
