Internet pop-ups are very annoying. After you’ve been browsing the Web for a while, you may find that your PC desktop is cluttered up with secret pop-up pages that were opened by the websites you visited.
If you’ve turned on the pop-up blocker and your PC is free of adware and spyware, then it could mean that a faulty registry setting is preventing the popup blocker from working properly. To resolve this problem, apply the following registry tweak:
1. Press [Windows Key] + [R], type REGEDITand click OK.
2. Navigate to the registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ InternetExplorer\ New Windows
3. In the right-hand panel, double-click on PopupMgr. If PopupMgr doesn’t exist, you can create it by right-clicking in a blank area of the right-hand panel and choosing New > DWORD Value.
4. Set the Value data field to 1 and click OK.
5. Close the registry editor and restart your PC for the changes to take effect.
