Tips & Tricks: Recover Lost Administrator Passwords

It’s easily done: you create a password for your system’s Administrator account, but because you don’t need to use it for a while you forget it. When prompted for it, you are unable to provide it, and the problem you are trying to fix goes unresolved.

A similar problem occurs if you buy your computer second hand, and the original user has created an administrator password but not told you it. Again you are stuck in a situation where you cannot make major changes to your PC’s configuration.

You might think that the only solution it to wipe the hard drive, re-install Windows and start again. But, there is
another, less dramatic solution.
