ODT stands for Open Document Text which is the standard text document format used by the open source office packages OpenOffice and LibreOffice. OpenOffice and LibreOffice can open Microsoft Office files in addition to their own format files, but Word cannot open ODT files. ODF Addin for Office is a freeware extension for Word that allows you to open ODT files just as you would a normal Word file.
