XP Slipstreaming Create Custom Windows CDs

As each new Service Pack is released, XP re-installation can be a tricky procedure requiring you to have your original Windows CD plus a subsequent Service Pack. If you have misplaced the Service Pack installer, you may face a lengthy download. Of course, your main PC is probably out of service. So, you cant download the Service Pack until you have re-installed XP and established an Internet connection. Slipstreaming allows you to combine any Service Pack with your original CD, to create a new hybrid CD. The end result is that you will have the same installation CD as someone walking into a shop today and buying the very latest PC and XP with the most recent Service Pack. Slipstreaming can also avoid the update layering problem, where the alternate (and relatively random) installation of third party software, hot-fixes and Service Packs can result in unpredictable Windows behaviour. By installing Service Packs at the same time as XP, you can be certain that your system will remain stable for longer.
